Broadcast Modes

UWS is able to broadcast in two modes

  • 91.3 FM KUWS and the KUWS Webstream simultaneously

  • KUWS Webstream standalone

Any time UWS is sending audio to KUWS FM, the webstream will also broadcast that content, if UWS is sending audio to the webstream only, KUWS FM will stay with the WPR Music Network

Sending two independent audio feeds (with separate content) to KUWS FM and the webstream is not currently supported.

Audio Takeover

Control of either audio feed is always initiated by a wide orbit playlist, whether pre-scheduled in MusicMaster or triggered by a special event hotkey. All playlist templates contain proper entries to initiate audio switching. Because of this, the start of a playlist must precede any other steps to host or play content. Studio Activation is also only possible after a music or sports playlist has started.

Silence Protection

In a case where either/both feeds have been taken over but there is no scheduled content or hosting, the feeds will automatically switch back to WPR Music after 7 minutes of silence. If this happens accidentally during a sports event, end and restart the event playlist from hotkeys. If this happens accidentally during student music, contact WPR Engineering at 608-262-0626
