Digital Dub - Media Manager Trimming

Digital Dub - Media Manager Trimming

This process relies on the proxy file for the exported show master. Typically, the proxy file will be available within Video Search around 10 minutes after the show master export is completed, but delays are possible.

You can access Video Search (http://videosearch.pbswi.wisc.edu/) if you are in Vilas or if you are on WiscVPN (Global Protect).

The example below uses a Here and Now episode as an example, but it works for any show.

  1. Approximately 10 minutes after the show master export completes, run a search for the show on Video Search, utilizing the show ID (2HNW####HD - e.g. 2HNW2016HD or just 2HNW2016) - try every few minutes until it is available.

  2. Click on the Request Dub button:

This will initiate a search within Digital Dub.

3. Select the “JPG (MM)” and “MediaMgr” outputs, and click Submit:

4. Using the scrub/progress bar of the video, and/or the buttons at the bottom (which allow you to move in 10 second, 1 second, and 1 frame intervals), and/or the arrow keys on your keyboard (L/R moves 1 frame, U/D moves 10 seconds), find the following three timecodes, and enter them into the form:

A. The IN point of the segment you are trimming.

B. The OUT point of the segment you are trimming.

C. The still you would like to use as your screengrab/screenshot image.

Add your preferred output filename into the form (letters, numbers, and underscores only, please), and your email. Then click Submit.

The process should begin working on your request, and, upon completion, within sn_cirrus\online_sn\ingest (http://skycloud.wisc.edu:8212), in a subfolder for your show (e.g. HereNow, Misc, QuickFit, etc.), you should find the following for use in Media Manager:

  • MP4 video file

  • JPG image file

  • Caption files (SCC, SRT)
