Media ID

What is a Media ID?

A Media ID is a code unique to a given piece of content. It may equate to a PBS "NOLA" code.

What makes up a Media ID?

A Media ID begins with a 4-character prefix specific to the program. PBS assigns prefixes for national content. The PBS WI Programming department assigns prefixes for locally scheduled Broadcast content. Prefixes can be reserved for non-Broadcast content.

After the prefix, a number code, usually 4 digits long, appears containing the season and episode number. For example, the 5th episode of the 3rd season of a show would be 0305. Finally, for programs, after the episode number comes the suffix "HD". The vast majority of content will feature only the prefix, season/episode number, and HD suffix, but there are exceptions for revisions and differing versions of programs ("Pledge" or "Date Specific" versions, etc.).

How do I find out what a Media ID should be for the program I'm editing?
